Jack's Room - Sneak Peek

Ahhh - it has been over a month since I have posted. And not because nothing is happening around the house. Too much is happening. Everything seems like it is destruction construction mode and nothing is finished. The kitchen still needs counter tops and hardware (not that I don't love our temporary plywood counters), my closet still needs to be converted to a steam shower, the kids bathroom needs trim and paint...the list is endless. However, yesterday we finished painting my son's room and it was oh so nice to have him out of our bed and have at least one room near completion. I told my husband since so much of Jack's current decor is navy and he only has one window that a light color would be good - maybe in the white or light gray family. He came back with a saturated blue. (I get vetoed in this manner often). But I absolutely LOVE the color. I am not sure about the navy drapes and navy dresser...but I think it looks great with white and his bed-frame. I am under strict instructions not to come home with different drapes or dresser. So we are making it work!! I started styling today and here are some in progress pics:

..more to come!!

One Room Challenge: Week 6

The big reveal day is here! Thanks to Linda of Calling it Home for hosting this link-up!
Six weeks was a bit of a crunch, I accomplished almost all of my goals minus painting all of the trim. But without further ado, here is Claire's new "little big girl" room. To go back and see how this room progressed and the before photos click on Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, and Weeks 4 & 5.

I have one happy client!!

One Room Challenge: Weeks 4 & 5

Sorry for being completely behind in updating my progress for the One Room Challenge! Our kitchen cabinets and new appliances were delivered last week (post on that soon), so we have been so busy here!
For the last two weeks I have been busy with painting projects in Claire's room. The first project I worked on was painting the inside of Claire's closet and starting to paint the trim white. I chose Behr's Sweet Illusion for the inside of the closet and really love it. It is a really soft pink. Here is a photo of the before:

And After:

I'm not sure yet on how I am going to use the space. Still working on that. But I love the color. And man oh man - covering up the yucky oak trim makes an enormous difference! The next project I tackled was her dresser. I struggled with what color to paint it but after painting the closet I loved the Sweet Illusion so much I used that. And I sprayed the hardware gold.

It looks so nice right?!?!? I sprayed this chair gold as well:

Things are really starting to come together! Only a few days left until the reveal! Tune in Thursday! You can catch up on Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3

One Room Challenge: Week Three

Welcome back to the One Room Challenge! I am updating my four year old daughter Claire's room. You can get updated if you haven't already seen Week 1 & Week 2.
I picked out this Moroccan Trellis Rug for Claire's room. It will be delivered Monday, so I am crossing my fingers it works out. I haven't ordered from Rugs USA before, but other bloggers have said good things. This rug comes in many colors and I was able to get it 65% off. They always have crazy deals on their website.
I also had some luck at Home Goods. I got this pink and lavender duvet/sham set for just $29! There is already so much pink in the room that I chose to have the lavender side face out but its great that it is reversible.
Are you gagging from all the pink yet?? I am hoping I can be one of the ones who pulls off the pink and purple thing. It is a challenge using so much color but I am so far down the path - no turning back now! Claire has had this cute canopy in her room for a while now. It is the BRYNE net from IKEA.
BRYNE Net IKEA Easy to keep clean since you can remove the fabric and wash it by machine.
Now that I have her new bedding I was able to go out and choose some trim to add to the existing canopy. I chose this pretty lavender pom pom trim to edge the lengths of each side and go around the hoop at the top. (requires approx 8 yards of trim). If you follow my blog you know I don't sew. The key with this project is diligently pinning the trim. It took a while, but then when I used my hot glue gun it was very easy and quick.
Of course my glue gun broke before I could finish so here is the semi-finished product. The trim around the hoop needs to be glued still and that is why it doesn't look great. I guess I will be running out later to get a new glue gun ;)
Only three weeks left! To catch up on how the rest of the bloggers are doing, hope over to Calling it Home.
