Emerald Accents for the Holidays

I am really drawn to this winter color especially for the holidays. There is something luxe and celebratory about emerald. Many shades of green are considered emerald, but the darker and more rich the color the better. I think the lighter shades can get cheesy real fast.

Currently Coveting: Nude Blazer

Sadly summer is winding down (insert crocodile tears here). I get so depressed when I go shopping this time of year and all the new fall clothes are black, dark gray & burgundy. So dark. One trend I am loving for Fall is the beige blazer. A staple piece that can carry you through every season minus the winter-y months. I just like to deny that winter is coming as long as possible so summer whites mixed with a light blazer seems like a perfect transition.

Jack's Room - Sneak Peek

Ahhh - it has been over a month since I have posted. And not because nothing is happening around the house. Too much is happening. Everything seems like it is destruction construction mode and nothing is finished. The kitchen still needs counter tops and hardware (not that I don't love our temporary plywood counters), my closet still needs to be converted to a steam shower, the kids bathroom needs trim and paint...the list is endless. However, yesterday we finished painting my son's room and it was oh so nice to have him out of our bed and have at least one room near completion. I told my husband since so much of Jack's current decor is navy and he only has one window that a light color would be good - maybe in the white or light gray family. He came back with a saturated blue. (I get vetoed in this manner often). But I absolutely LOVE the color. I am not sure about the navy drapes and navy dresser...but I think it looks great with white and his bed-frame. I am under strict instructions not to come home with different drapes or dresser. So we are making it work!! I started styling today and here are some in progress pics:

Blogger Crush - One Room Challenge

Since last week's big reveal I have enjoyed blog hopping and checking out all the other One Room Challenge participants. Here are my top 2 picks which oddly enough are all office/creative work spaces.
1. My favorite reveal was the office transformation from Burlap & Lace. So chic.

Check out Burlap and Lace for the complete reveal.

2. Next is Autumn's deign of her "mini office". I have to say - this is such an amazing use of a teeny tiny space.

Prepping for a Beach Holiday

When I say "prepping" what I really mean is procrastinating. In a couple days we are leaving for Costa Rica! We will be there for a little over 2 weeks. I haven't had a 2 week vacation since my honeymoon (unless you count maternity leave - not quite a vacation). It's so hard when you have a job to take a lengthy vacation because you always want to preserve vacation time and use it carefully. So now that I am not working it is a big treat for us to be able to leave for this length of time. Of course instead of packing I am scanning through hundreds of photos on Pinterest...daydreaming of some imaginary boho chic beach wardrobe that I don't own stocked full of cover-ups, maxis, crop tops, sunnies, cutoffs and bikinis.....
