Practically Polished on Polyvore

I love Polyvore for the same reason I love Pinterest - it is a great source for inspiration and a fun way to be creative. My style sets represent a bit of fantasy because there is no way I could ever afford some of the pieces. But it is more of an inspiration of how I would pull items together whether I own them or not. Mood Board Monday

Outdoor Living: My own back yard is really lacking in the outdoor living arena. A couple Adirondack chairs and outdoor pillows do not a living area make. I am having a total love affair with bright pink lately. Pink, black and gold....maybe it is the whole 80s revival thing. If I had a magic wand and a bottomless bank account - this is more what I would imagine - and then throw in the pool just for fun.

I love the metal chairs - they actually come in a few other colors and are about $46 each - too bad I have no idea if they are comfortable. I think I am better off buying some for less that I can sit in and then spray paint. Although I have yet to find such a lovely hue of pink in the spray-paint isle.

Outdoor Rug from Overstock - such a deal $82 for a 5x7 rug...

The poufs are gorgeous and available at Joss & Main - but not in my budget at $200 each.

Mood Board Monday

Eclectic - it is comforting to surround yourself with things that have a past and a story. Mixing and matching textures, prints and textiles invites interest.

Mood Board Monday

We went and visited our friends who had just had a new baby girl. I was a little nervous that after holding a newborn I may get THAT feeling - but luckily I just thought she was extra cute and I felt no urge to have another. Phew! After seeing their nursery it only made me realize how un-done my son's (8mo) room is. My daughter definitely monopolizes my attention when it comes to wardrobe and room decor. Girls are just so fun. I need to get inspired. His room is cute but could really use some art work. I love this lobster that was on sale today at Joss & Main.

Sprucing Up for Spring

Here is the mood board I created for my front "porch". It is actually not deep enough to really be a porch, more like a long cement landing. And the brick of my home is more brown and unfortunate as are the windows....pictures soon. One thing I realized is that all of the beautiful doors I look at for inspiration do not have screen doors. Don't most people have screen doors? How do you achieve the pretty look of the nice wreath and hardware when there is a screen door in front? Puzzled. I don't think we will dismantle the screen door just for improved curb appeal so I will just have to work around that. I also discovered that even though our Burgundy door is easy to coordinate with Fall and Winter colors, Spring is much more challenging. I came across a pillow made of Braemore Gorgeous Petal fabric, and I am going to use that as my palette for the doormat and coordinating accents. Fabric or rugs can be a great tool in helping you see which colors can look nice together. It is usually very unexpected.
Luckily this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous!

Mood Board Monday

This is what my room would look like if my husband wanted to completely give up his masculine side - HA. Maybe when my two year old daughter is 16 I can re invent her room to resemble something like this.
