One Room Challenge: Week One!

There is nothing like a schedule to help keep me on track. I am excited to participate in Calling it Home's link-up one room challenge event hosted by Linda. I enjoy watching other bloggers as they transform a space and so I am looking forward to seeing what they do this year and grateful for some incentive to complete my own transformation!

Here is a look at my daughter Claire's room when she first transitioned out of her crib two years ago. Now that she doesn't nap and has quiet time in her room, she actually spends quite a bit of time in her room and it makes sense that it really reflect her ever growing personality. She is Pink and Princesses all the way, loves her treasures, anything that sparkles and all things girly.

My goals for her bedroom make over is to really complete this room with some finishing touches that are lacking:
  • paint walls and oak trim
  • update bedding
  • update artwork
  • add black out shade
  • new rug
  • make the closet space more efficient and aesthetically pleasing
  • embrace the pink (since that is the clients request)
  • DIY or buy headboard
  • Remove this busted wall light (it's way worse in person trust me)
The challenge is to complete the room in six weeks and provide an update each Thursday. Wish me luck and follow along! I will add more before pictures as I move forward as well. Check out the rest of the participant and their plans here.

Here are some examples from my Pinterest of Girl's bedrooms I like and hope to draw inspiration from:
