Blogger Crush - One Room Challenge

Since last week's big reveal I have enjoyed blog hopping and checking out all the other One Room Challenge participants. Here are my top 2 picks which oddly enough are all office/creative work spaces.
1. My favorite reveal was the office transformation from Burlap & Lace. So chic.

Check out Burlap and Lace for the complete reveal.

2. Next is Autumn's deign of her "mini office". I have to say - this is such an amazing use of a teeny tiny space.

Designer Crush: Kishani Perera

One reason Kishani Perera stands out to me is her designs appear very collected over time. None of her rooms look purchased - in fact almost all of them look like they have been slowly furnished by inhabitants that have been traveling the world hunting for and gathering eclectic treasures. As a result, each space is unique and beautiful. If you haven't read her book Vintage Remix, I strongly recommend it. She has a wonderful way of making pulling together looks that are current and cool.

The Dreaded Pink & Purple Combo

Considering that I make an effort not to dress my daughter in a lot of pink and purple girly cloths, I was surprised that when she started asserting her favorite things that pink & purple were high on her list. Especially Purple. Claire is only three and a half so when it comes to purple she has limited her requests to flip flops or other clothing accessories. But you know that her room has to be right around the corner. I am positive that I would use some mommy lie like - "Home Depot doesn't have pink or purple paint today sweetie" (just like Starbucks is out of Chocolate Milk on Tuesdays). But after I saw this post it at least opened the door as possible. I really admire blogger Krista Salmon and how she created an elegant & tasteful room for her daughter that met her design aesthetic and also her daughter's love for pink & purple. I found it inspiring to see that it is possible to do this without the room being completely bubblegum and juvenile. To see the entire post and sources visit Krista's blog Kiki's List. This room is certainly not toddler-proof but the color combinations are great.
is it crazy to be jealous of a little girl's room? love the blend of pink and purple

Designer Crush: Amber Lewis

I stumbled upon Amber Lewis's blog, Amber Interiors, and instantly fell in love. Amber is a professional designer who has an amazing ability to incorporate cultural influences and still maintain a classic and up-scale vibe. If you like tribal prints and suzani pillows, you will love her style. What impresses me the most about designers with this aesthetic is that they are able to use all kinds of contrasting prints and layered textures without the room looking over done or busy. Her rooms look airy with lots of bright character. AND you can shop her looks as well here (as long as you are willing to cough up a pretty penny). It doesn't hurt that she is completely adorable!

Blog Crush: Could I Have That

Sometimes you come across a new blog and it is like reading the back of a book and knowing you are going to love every page.  Samantha Hutchinson has that lucky ability to look chic but not like she is trying....her taste is a bit more hmm bohemian, rustic vintage? than mine, but I love her taste - I found myself going through page after page coveting her entire wardrobe and decor selections.....always inspiring to see how others use pieces you have - like the steve madden booties that I bought in black and taupe that just sit sad and alone in my closet and she wears them constantly pairing them with dresses and wearing them in summer. While this is mostly a style blog there is are DIYs, yummy recipes and decor selections mixed in. So after paging through her blog I feel a refreshed attitude towards my wardrobe and will be sure to follow her religiously.
